Coming soon: Scientific study on Alpine flowers
We are very proud to announce that, in Spring 2011, Dolomites Apartment will host a UK team devoted to studying the Alpine flora. More exactly:
“Reginald Farrer, the Edwardian plants man, described the Dolomites as having “peaks like frozen flames.” He adored these mountains and visited them over a period of many years in the early 1900’s, describing his journeys to find the alpine plants of the area .
In 2011 Jackie and I are fortunate to be able to return to this beautiful area to study the alpine plants at the peak of the spring flowering season. Our aim is to explore several areas of the Dolomites to complete our “modern” photographic record of the alpine plants and to visit many of the places inspired by the writings of Farrer and other alpine botanists who have been to this unique mountain range. This historical and botanical research becomes part of an AGS (Alpine Garden Society) report, and we hope to share some our findings and our experiences with you on this website in the future.
Pete & Jackie Murray”
This is very interesting and we are all looking forward to hear about their study, which will be published on this website after completion. Many thanks Pete and Jackie for this!
